Smiths W10 Military Dated 1969
This update begins with one of the best examples of the Smiths W10 that we’ve had. Made in England for the British military, these are excellent vintage watches that have become increasingly sought after over the last few years. The matt black dial is in excellent condition and there is great colouration to the luminescent accents and hands. The movement used for the model was based on the Smiths Astral movement but with exacting specifications and the addition of a hack feature to allow synchronisation of the seconds hand. There are some light scuffs and scratches to the case but this is a particularly well looked after example and the case remains well defined throughout. The fabric strap is an original military strap made for the Smiths W10 lug gauge.
Doxa ‘Oversized’ cal.1147 circa 1955
Meausuring 38mm in diameter, this is an amazing over-sized wristwatch made by Doxa in the mid-1950s. There are very few signs of use, indeed, minor marks to the case are likely from shop soiling rather than wear. The dial is outstanding with gilded Arabic numerals raised in relief form the surface and there are slim pointed baton hands. With a steel snap-on case back, the upper body has an integrated bezel and a chromed finish. We have fitted the watch with a handmade Christopher Clarke for Black Bough pig leather watch strap.
Omega cal.23.7S T2 circa 1925 | Silver
Early Omega wristwatches appear increasingly rarely to the market. This charismatic example, with silver hinged case, dates to the mid 1920s and its shape is one of the earliest wristwatch designs that appeared from the 1910s onwards. As with many watch models of this period, the strap is especially narrow and is attached to fixed bar lugs. The black exaggerated numerals are typical of the Art Deco period and the blued steel spade hands are of traditional form.
Manually wound, the calibre 23.7S T2 Omega movement is beautifully finished with decoratively machine pearling to the backplate.
Avia Olympic Chronograph circa 1955
Measuring 36.5mm in diameter, this is a handsome and relatively large vintage wristwatch. The slim and steeply chamfered bezel maximises the surface area available for the dial, ensuring all scales and calibrations are clear and easy to use. The dial has a good lustre with light oxidation spotting. There is some pitting and wear to the chrome finish which is largely confined to the underside of the upper case.
Longines Ref.1087 sold in 1980
With a classic dress-style design, this crisp and sharp Longines wristwatch has a silvered dial with vertical satin finish. The applied baton indexes have slim black inserts to their centres which match the black baton hands. This watch is accompanied by the original Longines presentation case and receipt detailing its original purchase from Wilkins Jewellers in Jersey, together with HM Customs import paper.
