Rolex Oyster Ref. 6426 circa 1968 | steel vintage manually wound wristwatch

Rolex Oyster Ref.6426 circa 1968

Headlining this week’s newsletter is a stylish and unusual version of the Rolex Ref. 6426 with ‘linen’ dial. The so-called ‘linen’ finish has a very lightly textured surface which creates interesting contrasts as light travels across its surface. There are luminescent accents above the numerals and to the hands which all have an attractive warm hue to them. There are scuffs and scratches to the steel bezel and Oyster case.

Omega Ref.14713 circa 1961

Next up is a superb Omega 14713 which retains its original branded Omega leather strap and steel pin buckle. The dial has an excellent lustre with slim, stretched Arabic numerals which are raised in relief. Cased in steel there is clean definition throughout and smart chamfers to the edges of the lugs.

Omega Cal. 300 circa 1943 | steel vintage manually wound mid-sized wristwatch

Omega Cal.R17.8 circa 1943 | mid-sized

Made in circa 1943, this mid-sized Omega dates to the Second World War period. The watch has a very attractive two-tone silvered dial with bold black Arabic numerals and interestingly shaped blued steel hands. The steel case is stamped to the outside back in French ‘Modèle Déposé’ denoting that the case design had a ‘registered design’ at the time of its production. Most likely the patent related to the water-proof case design which is two-part with special screw-down back. Manually wound, the watch is powered by a baguette-form Omega calibre 17.8.

Omega first released their Ref. 136.020 Seamaster de Ville in 1962. The present example is in great condition and retains its original winding crown and, unusually, its original crystal with magnified date aperture. The silvered satin finished dial has applied baton indexes with the quarter markers featuring black inserts to their centres. Cased in stainless steel, the upper body has a chamfered bezel and the back is centred with the embossed Seamaster logo.
