Occasionally we arew asked to help with advice to costume designers on watches. One of the projects that Alex has been asked to help with is sourcing a watch and watch strap for Dev Patel to wear in Wes Anderson’s The Wonderful World of Henry Sugar.
Anderson is well known for his devotion to an aesthetic and this short film, which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Riochard Aoyade and Ben Kingsley, is no outlier in his output with that regard. The watch that Dev Patel wears is barely noticeable, but, I guess, that is because the costume designer and Anderson wanted something that was right (period and make for the character that Patel plays) and didn’t want something that looked wrong.
