Steel Zenith Sporto vintage wristwatch, circa 1956
A fine stainless steel manually wound wristwatch with Zenith presentation box
This watch is in lovely condition for its age and the case retains excellent definition with attractively shaped lugs. Although this watch was not designed to be waterproof, the movement has a glazed cuvette concealed beneath the solid steel case back which was designed to offer extra protection to the movement from the ingress of dirt and moisture. The dial has a wonderful lacquer and only very light oxidation. The movement is a superb Zenith calibre 126-6 with 17 jewels and is manually wound. Zenith appears to have begun manufacturing their ‘Sporto’ line in the 1940s. This model features the ‘Sporto’ logo the dial and additionally to the inside case back.
