Pestle & Mortar – Medium
We have these ceramic and wood pestle and mortars in 3 different sizes: small, medium and large. An invaluable piece of kitchen equipment for grinding spices or making pastes from garlic, ginger, fresh turmeric and more. Obviously the size of mortar that you require depends on the volume of spices that you need to grind, the largest one might be ideal if you regularly make Ottolenghi’s magnificent black pepper tofu recipe or make a lot of basil pesto and the small one might suffice if you just need a small amount of ground cardamon for some Scandinavian biscuits.
They are also a handsome and tactile thing to have on your work surface.

The capacity of the medium mortar is 3/4 pint – nb, the mortar is the bowl and the pestle is the tool for crushing the contents against the mortar.
