Vintage Lead Penguins

This colony of penguins is rather short on numbers, but maybe they are just a breakaway faction from a larger colony.

I’m not sure that the makers of these lead animals were aiming to have the penguins identifiable as a particularly breed; apparaently there are 28 different types of penguin, from Southern Rockhoppers to Emperors.

These toy penguins may have been made by Britains, or one of their competitors, probably in the 1930s-1950s.

Some paint loss.

These lead figures should not be used as children’s toys but they do make a characterful display.
