Pink Gold Vacheron Constantin vintage wristwatch, circa 1945

A rare and exceptional 18ct pink gold circular manually wound wristwatch with two-tone champagne dial

This is a superb Vacheron Constantin wristwatch with an 18ct pink gold case which is unusually rich and deep in tone. The case retains excellent definition with clear hallmarking to the case side and underside of the upper left lug. The champagne coloured dial is in lovely original condition with light and even oxidation and carries full applied, pink gold, Arabic numerals; the edge of the dial which carries the minute track has a sweeping, high sheen, satin finish that contrasts with the main body of the dial, thereby creating a two-tone effect.

The extremely fine movement is a Vacheron Constantin calibre V453 which has 17 jewels and a superior finish with polished, countersunk screw heads and decorative ‘Geneva’ stripes across the plates.

Vacheron & Constantin was founded in 1755 and is the oldest, continuously active, watchmaker in the world. Together with Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet, the company is recognised as one of the finest historical watch manufacturers. With a rich heritage, the Geneva based company is admired for the variety and quality of its heritage pieces that have included watches of outstanding quality, complexity and design. Its 250th anniversary in 2005 was marked by a series of events and the launch of several special watches, including the world’s most complicated double-faced wristwatch, the Tour de l’Ile.
