Tudor / Rolex Oysterdate Ref. 7992 vintage wristwatch, circa 1966
A stylish stainless steel manually wound centre seconds wristwatch with date
This Tudor wristwatch has a very handsome silvered dial with an unusual, circular satin finish. The applied numerals are multi-faceted to enhance the play of light across their surface. The robust stainless steel Rolex Oyster case has a classic, polished, chamfered bezel and typical screw-down crown and case back. The serial number of this watch indicates the year of production as 1966, however, the numbered jeweller’s guarantee paper that accompanies the watch is dated 17th December 1973 and therefore suggests that the watch was either a new/old stock item or perhaps was sold as a second hand item at that time.
Manually wound calibre 2403 movement, lever escapement, 21 jewels, mono-metallic compensation balance, 18,000 A/h; silvered dial with circular satin finish, applied faceted baton quarter hour markers, the intervening numerals of multi-faceted losenge shape, luminescent dots above, luminescent sword-shaped hands (please note that luminescence will have naturally dulled with age), polished stainless steel Rolex Oyster case with chamfered bezel, the tops of the lugs with satin finish, screw-down Rolex crown and case back; case, dial, movement and crown signed.
Diameter excluding winding crown: 34mm
