Tudor / Rolex Oyster Ref. 7803 steel vintage wristwatch, circa 1950
A stainless steel manually wound centre seconds wristwatch with ‘honeycomb’ dial
This is a great looking Tudor wristwatch, the cream coloured dial has a ‘honeycomb’ textured finish which has acquired a wonderfully warm and even patina. The steel case retains good definition with crisp, chamfered bezel and substantial down-turned lugs. This Tudor watch was one of the last to feature the ‘Rose’ motif within a shield to its dial; at the time of its manufacture, the logo was on the cusp of being transformed to feature a larger ‘Rose’ that was no longer bordered by the shield motif.
Tudor finished ETA calibre 1182 manually wound movement, lever escapement, 17 jewels, compensation balance, 18,000 BPH, shock absorber; cream coloured ‘honeycomb’ textured dial with raised gold coloured Arabic and dagger numerals, feuille hands, blued steel centre seconds; polished stainless steel two-piece Oyster case, the tops of the lugs with satin finish, polished chamfered bezel, screw-down case back and Rolex crown; case, dial, movement and crown signed.
