Steel Tudor / Rolex Oyster Ref. 4463 vintage wristwatch, circa 1945
A steel manually wound centre seconds wristwatch
This is a great looking Tudor model which is in lovely condition for its age. The silvered dial is handsomely configured with black Arabic numerals and the blued steel hands contrast brilliantly with the red centre seconds. The robust steel Oyster case has a polished chamfered bezel and satin finish to the top of the lugs. As an Oyster watch, the case has the typical screw-down crown and case back and it is interesting to note that the inside case back is signed “Oyster Watch Co”. The use of this signature reinforces the importance of the “Oyster” patent within both the Tudor brand and its parent company Rolex itself. By the time that this watch was made, Rolex’s “Oyster” case design was so famous that the word “Oyster” had become synonymous with the brand itself.
