The book is arranged in chronological order; the properties at the start of the book include Goddards by Edwin Lutyens and Blackwell by Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott and moves through the 20th century covering iconic buildings like Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe and The Glass House by Philip Johnson before reaching Ken Shuttleworth’s Crescent House and Elektra House by David Adjaye.
A useful overview of domestic architecture since 1900 it also brings structures to the fore of the book that the reader may previously not have been aware of. Each building is given 4 pages and the layout plans of the houses are listed alongside photographs and text.
