Description
Sylvac Ref. 3225 Vase
This Sylvac vase has a familiar shape (their pattern reference 3225) but an unusual glaze decoration.
I have seen this form before in a plain off-white glaze, but in this iteration it has a background gloss glaze colour that is a dark plum colour and on top of that it has a streaked abstract pattern where the glaze has either been wiped away to leave a more shallow colour, or . . . the lighter glaze colour has been applied . . . . I can’t tell which.
Underneath the plum colour there is, I think, also a greenish base glaze colour which can be just seen in a small firing fault to one side of the vase which you can see in the close up photo.
An interesting thing.
If you intend to use it as a vase I recommend using a flower support such as the long kenzan by Niwaki to help support the stems of your blooms and prevent them from falling to one end of the vase.
