Description
Staffordshire Flatback – Tom King
Poor Tom King has been in the wars a bit. But then a highwayman should be prepared for a bit of misadventure!
Tom King was a cohort of Dick Turpin and therefore someone who gained a popular myth around them. Famous enough to be turned into a Staffordshire flatback.
At some point this Tom Kink has had some reconstructive surgery to his left hand. There is also a crack to the neck of the horse but I think that this is a firing crack as it doesn’t translate to the back of the piece.
Despite being a partner of Dick Turpin, it was Turpin who accidentally shot King in 1735.
