Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King-Date Ref. 5700 circa 1984
A stainless steel automatic centre seconds wristwatch with date, original sale’s receipt, numbered swing tag, Rolex presentation case, card outer box, Rolex plastic wallet with calendar card

With an 8.7 million series case number, this watch was made in c.1984. It comes to us directly from from the original owner’s family and was originally purchased from Zales Jewellers in December 1986. The watch retains its original Rolex numbered swing tag, inner and outer Rolex presentation boxes, and green Rolex wallet containing Rolex calendar card from 1986-87, sale’s receipt and Rolex translation leaflet (the original certificate is not present).

An outstanding example of the model with the highly coveted black gloss dial, the case is in unpolished condition retaining excellent definition to its angles and edges. The lugs are full and thick; the bracelet links, clasp hinge and closure all remain tight. A classic ‘everyday’ wristwatch, the Air-King-Date Ref.5700 was first launched in the 1960s. Similar in design to the Ref.5500 Air-King, the 5700 features a date aperture and a slightly larger case with a diameter of 35mm.

As part of this watch’s service and overhaul it has been pressured tested for water resistance for depths up to 100 metres.
