RHS Complete Gardener’s Manual
If you are looking for a practical garden bible then this might fulfil the brief. Authorised by the Royal Horticultural Society the strap line for the book reads ‘the one-stop guide to plan, sow, plant, and grow your garden’.
The book opens with a chapter that identifies what plants need and then subsequent chapters deal with designing your garden, planting the garden, growing fruit ad vegetables and ongoing care for the garden. There is also a plant chooser at the back of the book which helps you identify the plants that will suit certain aspects or soil types or one that will give you colour at a particular point in the year.
It might prove to a bit like having the whole back catalogue of Gardener’s World episodes sandwiched between two covers.
