Railway Building – Ford’s Family Grocers

This model railway building would have been sold originally in a kit form and the original purchaser (or recipient) would then have put and glued together the sections to create the structure.

While these were sold as the preserve of the model railway enthusiast they are as interesting to those of us interested in architecture and miniaturisation. This structure, as with the other pieces that we have, is made from cardboard.

The window panes above the front have blown in. They are actually floating around the inside of the structure having come loose, but because of the way in which the model was constructed there is no longer the access to re-attach the window from the inside. At some point the model has also lost a chimney.
