His writing and recipes in this book are a celebration of seasonal vegetables and fruit. The recipes are all suitable for vegetarians. Some of the recipes look wildly beautiful as well as delicious; there’s a recipe for rhubarb and ginger upside-down cake which looks incredible and also suggestions that may have not crossed your path before: new potatoes with elderflower and lemon thyme.
The recipes are accompanied by beautiful photography but also by spare and engaging poems also by Meller. Rather than intrude on the recipe book these fit snugly alongside the images and recipes.
