Description
Trailblazing Women Printmakers – Elena M. Sarni
This book is about the Folly Cove Designers – one of America’s longest-running artist collectives – which originated in Gloucester, Massachusetts in 1941 and is a mostly women block-printing group. The group produced more than three hundred distinct designs through shared design principles.
The collective achieved some renown when their designs were scaled up in priduction by companies such as Lord & Taylor and F. Schumacher.
The book celebrates the group’s success and the artistry of its members. Through analysis of the designs, historical ephemera and phorotgraphs, Elena Sarni explores the history, the work, and the community of the Folly Cove Designers.
