Description
Some Men in London – Peter Parker
This is volume 2 of Peter Parker’s mammoth exploration of texts, letters, diaries and plays that reveal the context of queer life in London for men. This volume deals with the period 1960-1967. Homosexuality was decriminalized in England and Wales in 1967. The run up to this decision therefore makes the main focus of this anthology. Parker explores the texts of those who deplored homosexulaity and were worried that it was becoming more widespread as well as those who were living a queer life.
The books together are a testament to a thriving, joyous subculture without which the 1960s would have been immeasurably impoverished.
