You can rely on a poet to have a fascination with words and in this almanac Michael Rosen gives free rein to that interest and gives an entry for every day of the year.

Some of these are words or phrases that arec of particular interest to him or which are drawn from his own family’s usage, others he has crowd sourced via Twitter/X. Asking people for there own family language use he has selected some of those responses for his daily entries here.

The rest of the entries are made up of Rosen’s thoughts about language; there are entries he has written on eponyms, linguistic snobbery and synaesthesia.
