East – Meera Sodha
Meera Sodha’s new book contains 120 vegan and vegetarian recipes from Bangalore to Beijing. These are of course one of the best geographical sources for food that doesn’t feature or contain meat and in Sodha’s (and David Loftus’ photography) the recipes look entirely enticing.
The book is structured around the types of meal that are found across South, East and South east Asia i.e. noodles, rice and curries. Some are recipes that are based on foods native to particular cuisines and others are adaptations of recipes that Sodha has tinkered with and used as launch pads for an idea for a dish.
The recipes that I am especially keen to try are those for honey, soy and ginger braised tofu, Bombay rolls and peanut butter and purple sprouting pad thai.
