Leather Single Watch Pouch made in England

Pink Gold Patek Philippe Ref. 1593 ‘Hour Glass’ retailed by Freccero vintage wristwatch, made in 1947 and sold in 1948

A very fine, rare and elegant 18ct pink gold flared sided rectangular wristwatch with original 18ct pink gold Patek Philippe buckle

Reference 1593 is one of Patek Philippe’s most beautiful and iconic ‘shaped’ wristwatches. Known to collectors as the ‘Hour Glass’ due to its distinctive, deeply flaring case, the Ref. 1593 was first introduced by Patek Philippe in 1944. The majority of examples of the 1593 were made in 18ct yellow gold, examples in pink gold, such as the present watch, are rare. The case’s design is composed of sharp, clean lines and sinuous curves which give the watch an architectural feel. The flared sides of the case are satin finished whilst their tops are polished and gently chamfered.  The case back is flat and, when placed on a table, is held slightly above the surface by the ends of the lugs which, with their flat bases, create a natural stand for the watch and help protect the back from scratching.

The present wristwatch was originally sold by Freccero, an important South American retailer for Patek Philippe, based in Montevideo. Their signature can be found to the dial above the subsidiary seconds. The 18ct rose gold case has a rich and warm pink tone and is in superb condition, retaining excellent definition to its angles and edges and with sharp Swiss hallmarking to the underside of the lower right hand lug and further hallmarking between the lugs above 12 o’clock.

We have fitted the watch with a handmade alligator strap which also holds the original gold spring bars and 18ct pink gold Patek Philippe pin buckle.
