The Titfield Thunderbolt by Edward Bawden
Edward Bawden designed the poster for the Ealing comedy The Titfield Thunderbolt which was released in 1953. The image on this card is a version of the artwork that he produced for the film but adapted to make a Christmas card. Bawden produced this image in 1952, a year before the film was released.
The plot of the film concerns the proposed closure of a rail branch line and the efforts to keep the railway line operational in the face of proposed closure and replacement with a bus service.
