Ice Hockey – Laura Knight
Dame Laura Knight was an English landscape and figurative painter. She studied at Nottingham School of Art in 1900 where she met fellow artist Harold Harvey who she married in 1903. They formed an artists’ colon in Staithes, Yorkshire before moving to Newlyn, Cornwall in 1908. This artwork was probably made when she was living in Cornwall.
She was among the most successsful and popular painters in Britain in the first half of the twentieth-century and as well as landscapes such as the one on this card she also painted lots of scenes featuring the ballet and the circus and was an offical war artist at the Nuremberg war trials.
The cards is blank inside and comes with an accompanying envelope.
