Steel Omega Seamaster Chronostop Ref. 145.007 vintage wristwatch, circa 1968
A very large stainless steel manually wound fly-back chronograph wristwatch with original Omega presentation case, strap and Omega folding clasp
Omega introduced their oversized Chronostop model in 1967. Measuring 41mm across the case, this watch is one of the largest vintage models by Omega. It is this large case, combined with its sporty appearance, that has made the Ref.145.007 one of Omega’s most popular designs. The chronograph mechanism is similar to a fly-back, whereby the orange chronograph seconds hand can be started via the pusher to the case side, pressing the same pusher again will automatically stop and rest the second hand to the 12 o’clock position. As such, the orange hand can be used either as a constant seconds hand, or to time intervals up to a minute in duration. The inner bezel is calibrated for tachymeter which allows the user to measure the speed of a travelling object over a fixed distance.
Omega calibre 865 manually wound movement, lever escapement, 17 jewels, mono-metallic balance, 21,600 BPH, Incabloc shock absorber; matte black dial, faceted chapter ring with applied steel indexes, the indexes with luminous dots above, matte white outer ring for minutes/chronograph seconds, inner bezel calibrated for tachymeter, luminescent baton hands (please note that luminescence will have naturally dulled with age) orange chronograph seconds hand; large stainless steel case with satin finished top, polished faceted edge, satin finished case sides and screw-down back, the centre of the case back with the Omega Seamaster logo, Omega winding crown, Omega crystal; case, dial, movement, crown and crystal signed; leather strap with steel Omega folding clasp.
