Steel Omega Ref. 720 vintage wristwatch, circa 1954

A stainless steel manually wound wristwatch

This is a great example of the Omega Ref. 720, with a handsome silvered dial that is fully set with applied Arabic numerals. The dial is in lovely original condition with a good lustre and only light patination. Illustrated below is an extract from a 1952 Omega catalogue where this model is listed as a Ref. 720. Omega’s Ref. 720 is an archetypal vintage wristwatch model with a brilliantly proportioned case featuring a polished chamfered bezel, gently down-turned lugs and flat, polished, snap-on back. The model was available with a variety of different dial designs and the steel case was made for Omega by the English based Dennison case company whose signature appears above that of Omega to the inside case back. Dennison’s model number for the case’s design was 13322 and this appears to the top of the inside case back. The manually wound movement is an Omega calibre 266 which forms part of the famous and highly successful ’30’ series, one of the most reliable of all vintage watch movements.

This watch has been fitted with a handmade Christopher Clarke for Black Bough traditional pig skin leather strap.
