Gold Omega vintage wristwatch, hallmarked 1945

A rare 9ct yellow gold manually wound wristwatch

This is a great vintage Omega wristwatch. Hallmarked for the year 1945, the watch is cased in one of the earliest examples of the Dennison Ref. 13322 cases, a design which was to become one of the most classic of Omega models made for the British market in the later 1940s and 1950s.

The dial, which is richly patinated with a golden hue, has light oxidation across the surface. Although this model was available with a variety of different dial designs, this dial has several features that distinguish it from later examples. Firstly, the outer minute track is in the so-called ‘chemin-de-fer’ or rail track style whereby the minute divisions are held within concentric circles, later examples of the model had an open track. The subsidiary seconds dial has Arabic numeral grauduations at the quarters, a feature that is absent on later versions. The blued steel hands are a design known as ‘Moderne’, a style which first appeared in the Art Deco period and which, on these Omega models, later morphed into the ‘Feuille’ or leaf-shaped design and finally the ‘Dauphine.’

Manually wound, the watch is powered by an Omega calibre 30.T2 one of the earliest examples of the famous and highly successful 30 series.
