Description
Omega Genève Ref. 166.0168 circa 1974
A steel automatic centre seconds vintage wristwatch with hack feature
One of the larger vintage circular Omega models, the Ref.166.0168 has a 36mm diameter. There is a vertical satin finish to the silvered dial and applied baton indexes. Cased in steel, the gently flared lugs are formed directly from the case which gives a satisfying depth to their profile view. The bezel has a slight chamfer but is recessed into the main body of the case thereby giving the watch a flatter, more streamlined appearance. Automatically wound, the watch is powered by the Omega calibre 1012 which incorporates both a hack feature and a quick date-setting function. When the crown is pulled out to the first setting, the date can be moved backwards or forwards by rolling the crown in either direction; when pulled out the the second position for hand-setting, the seconds hand will stop, allowing accurate synchronisation to a time signal.
