Movado Calendoplan gold vintage wristwatch, hallmarked 1953
A rare 9ct yellow gold manually wound wristwatch with date
Movado launched their Calendoplan model in 1950 and the present example, which was made for the UK market, was manufactured in 1953. The watch incorporates Movado’s calibre 128, a movement that was in production for the Calendoplans for around 15 years from c.1950-c.1965. In lovely original condition, this watch has a stylishly configured dial with raised, gilded, Arabic and faceted spear-head indexes and there is a light but wonderfully warm patina to the surface. Whilst the date will change each day at midnight, this model is also fitted with an adjuster for manual advancement – a pusher is situated to the case side just beneath the 4 o’clock position for this purpose. The 9ct yellow gold case retains good definition to its angles and edges, this has not been polished during servicing so there are some small scuffs and scratches.
