A Dozen Wooden Bird Eggs in a Basket
This basket contains 12 lathe turned beech wood eggs that are made and decorated in Germany. They are painted with non-toxic paint and although therefore suitable for smallish hands I think they have an appeal that is beyond the young.
There is something extremely tactile about the eggs; they feel great in the hand and, like the wooden mushroom sets also made by Moon Picnic, I can see these as part of a beautifully styled interior. The eggs are not supposed to be identifiably the egg of one bird or another and are all different sizes and finishes. 10 of the 12 eggs have a slightly flat bottom which mean that they can be stood on end, the other 2 are completely smooth.
The basket is made from rattan, and while it makes a good storage vessel for these wooden eggs, it could alternatively be used for real eggs.
The eggs measure from 3.5cm long to 6.5cm long.
The pack as a whole measures: 18.5cm x 18cm x 15.5cm
