Description
Mark Hearld’s Work Book
When this title was first published in 2012 Mark Hearld was still something of a niche figure in British design, art and crafts. His style is now identifiable by a lot more people who have been charmed by his relaxed mastery of combining mark making, paper cutting and collage to form whimiscal and interesting pieces. This edition of the book is smaller than the original but just as delightful.
The introductory text is by Simon Martin, director of Pallant House Gallery in Chichester and in it Martin describes Hearld’s art as ‘encouraging us to look with fresh eyes at the nature that surrounds us. It celebrates the flora and fauna that we so often take for granted’.
The book includes photographs of Hearld at work, works in progress and finalised pieces which have made their way to repeat patterns or book illustrations, framed art or greetings card designs.
