Description
Steel Longines Ref. 23522 vintage wristwatch, circa 1947
A rare stainless steel manually wound centre seconds wristwatch
This is a rare and great looking vintage Longines with a relatively large steel case for the period, measuring 35mm in diameter. The watch has many design elements that are typical of watch design from the 1940s, including the rounded bezel, gently down-turned lugs and feuille hands. The dial has a very handsome full Arabic numeral calibration with detailed outer minute and seconds track that is calibrated to 5ths of a second increments. These 5ths of a second represent the 18,000 BPH of the movement and thus the motion of the seconds hand. All hands are made from blued steel and contrast beautifully with the silver of the dial. Utilitarian in design, the spotting to the dial surface enhances its vintage look. The watch is powered by Longines’ calibre 12.68N which was first introduced in 1939
