Longines Conquest Ref. 1556 circa 1975 ‘Full Set’

A gold electroplated and steel manually wound vintage wristwatch with hack feature, original box, guarantee booklet, strap and buckle

In excellent original condition, this super sharp Longines Conquest Ref. 1556 dates to the mid-1970s. The watch is complete with its original Longines strap and buckle, presentation case and guarantee booklet which notes the original date of sale as 1 May 1976. A really well proportioned watch, this model has an especially well balanced design, from the length of the hour indexes and minute markers to the height, width and curve of the case sides. A sense of utility and clarity are re-enforced by the Longines calibre 6942 movement which has an unusual hack feature – when the crown is pulled out to the hand-setting position, the seconds hand will stop when it reaches the 12 o’clock position, the user can then push the crown back in upon a time signal, or when synchronising to another timepiece, and the seconds hand will start immediately.

The case retains very crisp definition to its satin finished bezel, polished chamfered edges and case sides. There are a couple of minor abrasions to the case back from past opening.
