Longines Admiral Ref. 2303 steel vintage wristwatch, circa 1972

A special edition stainless steel manually wound wristwatch made for the 1972 Munich Olympics with unusual hack feature

This is a rare limited edition Longines wristwatch that remains in almost unused condition. The watch was made as part of a series to commemorate Longines appointment as the official timer at the Munich Olympics in 1972. The dial has a very handsome silvered finish with unusual luminous rectangles at the inner quarters. The clarity of the dial’s design is superb and is complimented by the angular tonneau-form steel watch case with its combination of satin and polished finished. The beautifully crisp movement is a Longines calibre 6942, 17 jewel movement with an unusual hack feature; when the crown is pulled out to adjust the hands, the seconds hand will stop when it reaches the 12 o’clock position, the user can then push the crown back in upon a time signal or when synchronising to another timepiece and the seconds hand will start immediately. The watch is set to a period, unsigned ‘grain de riz’ stainless steel bracelet and folding clasp which is detachable and can be replaced with a leather strap if preferred.
