Leicester Palace Poster 1954

Don Ross says Thanks For The Memory and . . .  so do we.

This poster for a concert at Leicester’s Palace theatre dates from 1954. The venue seems to have had a chairman at the time who went by the name Prince Littler – wikipedia tells me that Prince Littler was a theatre producer and his West End shows included Carousel and Guys and Dolls.

This show in Leicester starred 7 music hall artistes including the brilliantly named Gertie Gitana.

The charm of this poster is the graphic design and layout. The Thanks for the Memory graphic is very reminiscent of James Brown’s recent lino cut work.

The poster is simply framed in a black wooden frame with glass. The poster is just float mounted behind the glass so, if you wanted to re-frame it or cut a specific mount you could do this.

Measurements (framed)
