Description
Jaeger-LeCoultre Ref. E557 steel vintage wristwatch, circa 1968
A stainless steel automatic centre seconds wristwatch
This super smart Jaeger-LeCoultre has a satin finished dial with a chamfered outer edge for the minutes/seconds. The bright satin finished dial is in great condition and has unusual tapered hour indexes at 6 and 9 o’clock, a theme continued by the tapering sword-shaped hands and the asymmetric date aperture. Cased in stainless steel, the watch has a robust design with relatively broad lugs and a screw-down case back. The model incorporates LeCoultre’s calibre Z883 which is automatically wound and has provision for semi-quick date change; whilst the date will change each day at midnight, it can be manually advanced by moving the hands backwards and forwards between 9pm and midnight.
