Gold International Watch Co. Ref. 810 vintage wristwatch, hallmarked 1970
A fine and handsome 9ct yellow gold automatic centre seconds wristwatch
Hallmarked for the year 1970, this is a great looking IWC wristwatch that is in lovely overall condition. The silvered dial has a vertical satin finish with applied numerals and date aperture at 3 o’clock. The solid 9ct yellow gold case has handsome, angular, faceted lugs and a polished, chamfered bezel. Reference 810 incorporated IWC’s calibre 8541 automatic movement with precision regulation. The date ring on the cal. 8541 was considerably enlarged from the preceding cal. 8531, thereby making the numerals much easier to read. A visual comparison of the two calibres is shown in: Tölke, H and King, J. IWC International Watch Co., pub. Verlag Ineichen 1st Edition, 1987, p.231, pl.261-262.
IWC calibre 8541 automatic movement, lever escapement, 23 jewels, mono-metallic balance, 19,800 BPH, precision regulation, Incabloc shock absorber; silvered vertical satin finished dial, applied IWC emblem and baton numerals with luminescent dots above, luminescent hands (please note that luminescence will have naturally dulled with age); 9ct yellow gold case, angular faceted lugs, snap-on case back; case, dial and movement signed.
