Gold International Watch Co. vintage wristwatch, hallmarked 1964
A 9ct yellow gold automatic centre seconds wristwatch with original IWC fitted presentation box
This handsome IWC wristwatch has a silvered dial which is fully set with raised Arabic numerals. The Swiss made 9ct yellow gold case is classically styled with a smooth chamfered bezel and gently flared, down-turned lugs; there are UK import hallmarks to the case back for the year 1964. The dial has some light spotting to the surface and discolouration around the numerals, some losses to luminous dots. Automatically wound, the movement is International Watch Company’s calibre 853 which was first introduced in 1958 and is considered one of the finest vintage automatic movements. As can be seen in the movement photograph of the present watch, this example of the calibre 853 is an especially clean example with crisp bridges, screw-heads and rotor.
This watch is accompanied by its original IWC fitted presentation case.
