Description
Gluggle Jug – Aqua
The history of ‘glug’ or ‘gluggle’ jugs dates back to the 19th Century when the design was first developed by Thomas Forester in Staffordshire in the late 1870s. The design was, however, popularised by Dartmouth Pottery in the early 20th Century.
For a period of time the modern iterations of the jug were made by Wade who bought the original moulds when Dartmouth Pottery collapsed in the 1950s. These new colours are produced by the company that worked with Wade recently to bring the range up-to-date. Wade ceased trading in late 2022 so these jugs are now made by a new pottery.
The capacity of the jugs is 1.4l and they have the trademark ‘glug’ sound when water is poured out of them. We have the jugs in 8 different colours – you can see them all here.
