Description
Indigo Check Blanket
This wool blanket is woven for Freight at a mill in Lancashire. It is made from British lambswool.
The blanket design is a check made up of cream, navy and blue wools that combine in places with a herringbone knit pattern and which come together to create additional tones of colour where the warp and weft of different threads cross over one another.
As part of the finishing process the blankets have been run through a teasel machine to raise the yarn on one side of the blanket and make it particularly soft and also slightly blur the edge of each check section. Teasels have been used as part of the carding process in UK fabric mills for many years and instead of being replaced by modern equivalent machinery they still rely on harvested teasel seedheads to comb the fabric.
I don’t need to tell you how to use a blanket but as well as keeping you warm in bed these ones could be used as to perform the same role while you are sitting on a sofa or could be used as a picnic rug.
