Description
Fine Herringbone Lambswool Blanket
This lambswool blanket has been designed by Freight who are based in Lewes East Sussex. The blanket is made from British lambswool and is woven in Lancashire at one of the last remaining vertical mills in Britain. The lambswool is sourced and spun just over the moors from the mill in Yorksire. Once woven the blankets are passed through a teasel gig which raises the weave on one side to create a soft and light weight blanket. If you haven’t seen a teasel gig in action it is worth searching YouTube for footage of one . . . and while you fall down that rabbit hole, footage of vintage looms working is also strangely hypnotic.
The herring bone weave on this blanket is made up of two different widths of stripe running the length of the piece. The fringe is made up of the creamy/off white colour wool which is woven through the blanket in conjunction with a mid brown colour.
