This is the second book to come out in the Ottolenghi Test Kitchen series and this one offers solutions for filling up the shelves that were left half-empty from the previous title Shelf Love.

The Extra Good Things in this are dressings, sauces, pickles and more. The book contains recipes for these Extra Good Things alongside a recipe in which they can be used. So, for example, there is a recipe for sambal tofu with cashews and ginger pickle and there are then suggestions about how the ginger pickle may be used in a different context.

At the front of the book there are lists identifying which of the Extra Good Things is best suited for . . . .spreading on toast, putting on a baked potato, or serving with eggs. The book primarily contains savoury recipes but there are a couple of sweet recipes at the rear.
