Steel and chrome Cyma Ref. 1.6849 vintage wristwatch, circa 1955
A lady’s small stainless steel and chrome cocktail watch
In excellent original condition, this lady’s Cyma wristwatch has an elegant upper case with decoratively moulded lugs. The silvered dial has raised pink gold coloured Arabic and triangular numerals and matching hands. Manually wound, the watch is powered by a 17 jewel, Cyma calibre R.384K.
The Cyma watch company was part of the larger Tavannes Watch Co. which had factories and offices in Switzerland at Tavannes, La Chaux de Fonds, La Joux, Le Locle, Geneva and Neuchatel. Vintage Cyma advertisements claimed that it was founded in 1862 under the company name Schwob Frères. Tavannes itself was founded in the town of the same name by Henri Sandoz in 1891.
