Gold Cyma vintage wristwatch, hallmarked 1953
A handsome 9ct yellow gold manually wound centre seconds wristwatch
In excellent overall condition, this watch appears to be have been very little used and retains its original leather strap. The silvered dial has a wonderful lustre to the surface and there are crisp, gold coloured, raised Arabic numerals. The 9ct yellow gold case was made for Cyma by the Dennison case company and is a Dennison Ref. 12325.
The Cyma watch company was part of the larger Tavannes Watch Co. which had factories and offices in Switzerland at Tavannes, La Chaux de Fonds, La Joux, Le Locle, Geneva and Neuchatel. Vintage Cyma advertisements claimed that it was founded in 1862 under the company name Schwob Frères. Tavannes itself was founded in the town of the same name by Henri Sandoz in 1891.
