Steel Cyma Cymaflex Ref. 2-9457 lady’s vintage wristwatch, circa 1955
A lady’s small stainless steel manually wound wristwatch
In outstanding condition, this lady’s wristwatch appears to have been very little used. The silvered dial has an excellent lustre and is attractively set with raised pink gold coloured Arabic and faceted dagger numerals and hands. Cased in stainless steel, the watch is small in size but has substantial lugs and a bold chamfered bezel. The screw-down case back has faceted edges and is detailed with the Cyma logo.
The Cyma watch company was part of the larger Tavannes Watch Co. which had factories and offices in Switzerland at Tavannes, La Chaux de Fonds, La Joux, Le Locle, Geneva and Neuchatel. Vintage Cyma advertisements claimed that it was founded in 1862 under the company name Schwob Frères. Tavannes itself was founded in the town of the same name by Henri Sandoz in 1891.
