Cyma Cymaflex hallmarked 1952 | 9ct yellow gold manual vintage wristwatch
Cased in 9ct yellow gold, this mid-sized wristwatch is hallmarked for the year 1952. The dial retains a good lustre with only light oxidation to the surface. The case has a smart chamfered bezel and rounded, down-turned lugs. Whilst the case is solid gold, the winding crown, as is often found, is plated and there is wear to its finish.
Cyma was part of the larger Tavannes Watch Co. which had factories and offices in Switzerland at Tavannes, La Chaux de Fonds, La Joux, Le Locle, Geneva and Neuchâtel. Vintage Cyma advertisements suggested the firm was founded in 1862 under the company name Schwob Frères. Tavannes itself was established in the town of the same name by Henri Sandoz in 1891.
