Lambswool blanket/throw, made in Ireland
A twill weave lambswool blanket made in Kilkenny, southern Ireland at Cushendale Mills, an area that has had a connection with wool textile manufacturing since 1204. Cushendale Mills is a family business having been based in one of the original mills alongside the river Duiske since 1925 and now run by Philip and Mary Cushen.
Following the economic turmoil of 2008 Ireland has seen renewed interest and success in its traditional small scale craft and design industries – expanding the renown of crafts other than crystal glass; this includes their textile skills. Cushendale handle the full process from spinning and dyeing the yarn to weaving and finishing the fabric.
