Description
Crusader retailed by Flinn & Co. Coventry steel vintage wristwatch circa 1935
A steel ‘staybrite’ rectangular wristwatch with curved back
An unusual and charismatic model, this wristwatch was retailed by Flinn & Co., a jewellery and watch retailer based at 14 & 15 Broadgate, Coventry. Broadgate is right at the centre of Coventry and the area took its name from the ‘broad’ gate of the city’s castle which originally lay close by. The area retained much of its medieval layout until the Second World War, however, during the night of 14 November 1940, the Broadgate area was almost totally destroyed during a German bombing raid.
