Steel Breitling Premier Ref. 797 vintage chronograph wristwatch, circa 1947
A superb stainless steel chronograph wristwatch with ‘spider lugs’ and register
Reference 797 is an extremely stylish vintage Breitling model with a case diameter of 36mm. Made in circa 1947, this watch is from a period when there was great experimentation in chronograph production. The watch has a 36mm diameter case and a very unusual profile view with unusually deep and heavily shaped lugs that are reminiscent of spiders’ legs, indeed, the model is often referred to as the ‘Spider Lug‘ chronograph. The silvered dial, which has light and even oxidation, has bold painted black Arabic numerals and outer seconds/minutes track as well as a tachymeter scale at the extreme edge of the dial. The two subsidiary counters are, to the left, for constant/subsidiary seconds and, to the right, for counting minutes whilst the chronograph is running. This watch looks fantastic on the wrist with plenty of charm and character.
