The Practical Watch Escapement provides an excellent overview of the most important mechanical watch escapements. These include, the Verge, Cylinder, Virgule, Duplex, Lever, Detent, Robin and Echappement Naturel. This book also studies Daniels’s own Double Wheel Escapement and his most famous contribution to horology, the Co-Axial escapement.

There are technical drawings by David Penney and George Daniels and forewords by Roger Smith and David Newman. Several of George Daniels’s own watches are illustrated in colour.
